LES FONTAINES TAVERN

Some pubs are built. Others grow into what they are meant to be. Les Fontaines Tavern has been growing since the 17th century, when these granite walls and oak beams first gave shelter to travellers on Jersey's north coast. What began as a farmhouse became a gathering place, and what became a gathering place became something more: a second living room for generations of St John residents, a destination for visitors who stumble upon us and never forget the way back. Today, locals know us simply as The Northern Office. The nickname says everything about our place in the community. This is where deals are discussed, where celebrations unfold, where ordinary Tuesdays become memorable ones because the right people happen to be at the bar. The fire crackles through winter, the terrace fills through summer, and year-round, the welcome remains the same: unhurried, unpretentious, and genuinely glad to see you. Friends become regulars here. Regulars become family. And everyone, sooner or later, finds their seat.

Our kitchen keeps things simple: proper pub food, cooked well, served generously. From our famous rack of ribs to golden battered fish, from hearty pies to Sunday roasts that bring families together, every plate leaves our pass the way it should. No pretence, no shortcuts, just good food that does exactly what you hope it will. And to wash it down, real ales rotating through the hand pulls, wines chosen because they drink well rather than because they impress on paper, and a bar that knows how to pour a proper pint.
